Organisers have released new details of Land of the Vikings, a major new experience within the day park that centres on an action led seated live show for 1,250 people, preceded by an immersive walk through Viking settlement where visitors can explore daily Norse life.

Based in Bishop Auckland, Kynren – The Storied Lands is a unique new daytime attraction from the team behind the acclaimed night show Kynren – An Epic Tale of England. Tickets go on sale on May 18th.

At the centre of Land of the Vikings is a live arena production telling the story of a settlement divided between those who want to protect what they have built and others still drawn to conquest, glory and the call of the sea.

As old loyalties begin to fracture, buried truths surface and the community begins to turn on itself.

Shield walls collide, fights break out and ritual scenes give way to open confrontation as audiences watch Viking 'holmgangs', or duels, unfold around them.

The production combines choreographed combat, live performers, stunt sequences and fire effects in one of the park's most ambitious new shows.

Before taking their seats in the arena, visitors will first step into a Viking homestead alive with activity, designed as a living village rather than a static display.

Walk among timber homes and bustling workshops, see the villagers tending their crops and herbs growing in the gardens, and watch sparks fly as the blacksmith hammers metal in the heat of the forge.

Along the water's edge fisherwomen go about their work, while nearby warriors prepare for what lies ahead.

Stories are shared, fires burn and the atmosphere begins to shift, offering a vivid sense of a community on the brink of catastrophe.

“The live show delivers scale, pace and conflict, but the village gives visitors context,” said Kynren CEO Anna Warnecke.

“You see how people lived, worked and prepared long before the first shield is raised. Together they create a much richer and more authentic experience,” she added.

Land of the Vikings is one of a series of historically themed worlds forming part of Kynren – The Storied Lands, a totally new type of attraction combining live performance, immersive environments and historical storytelling in a format not currently seen elsewhere in the UK.

Tickets go on sale on 18th May, with visitors able to join the waiting list now for priority access.
